Updos work for brides who want their neckline visible, their veil prominent, or their hair fully off the face for an outdoor ceremony. We build chignons, sleek low buns, twisted knots, and architectural high updos. Each is pinned to last through dancing, with detailed sections planned at the trial so the wedding day execution is fast and clean.
Voluminous Hollywood Waves
Hollywood waves are a long-hair style with serious movement. Real Hollywood waves require correct sectioning, the right barrel size for your hair length, and setting time. We build the waves at your getting-ready location with the time the style actually needs, not rushed.
Half-Up Half-Down
This style gives you the structure of an updo at the crown with the romance of hair down at the back. It works on almost every hair type and pairs well with most veil placements. We add hidden pinning, optional small braids, or a textured twist depending on your dress style.

Every hairstylist on the Veux Beauty team is trained to work with the full range of hair textures and types: straight, wavy, curly, coily, kinky, fine, thick, color-treated, chemically relaxed, and extension-supplemented. When you inquire, share your hair type and any prior styling experiences so we can assign the stylist with the strongest match for your hair.
Straight and Wavy Hair
Straight hair holds curl differently than wavy hair, and both need different prep. We use heat protection, the correct iron temperature for your hair's condition, and setting techniques that lock in shape for 10 plus hours.
Curly and Coily Hair
We style curls and coils as they are. Pre-wedding hydration, gentle detangling, and curl-by-curl shaping go into every booking with textured hair. Brides with 3c, 4a, 4b, and 4c textures get a stylist trained specifically in natural hair, not a general bridal stylist working outside their skill set.
Fine and Thick Hair
Fine hair needs volume building without product overload. Thick hair needs structure and pinning that won't slip. Different hair densities get different product choices, different pin types, and different timing. We adjust the kit on the day to your hair.
Color-Treated and Chemically Processed Hair
If your hair is recently colored, balayaged, relaxed, or otherwise processed, share that at the trial. Processed hair often needs lower heat, different setting times, and extra conditioning before styling.

Hair Extensions for Brides
Veux Beauty works with hair extensions in three formats: clip-in, tape-in, and bonded sew-in for brides who want longer or fuller hair on the wedding day. Extensions get blended at the trial and applied either the morning of the wedding (clip-in) or in advance with a separate appointment (tape-in or bonded). We can source extensions through our preferred suppliers or work with high-quality extensions you've already purchased.
When to Add Extensions
Extensions make sense when your hair is shorter than the style you want, when you want significantly more volume or thickness, or when you want a specific length for a long flowing veil. They are not necessary for most brides, but they open up styling options that wouldn't otherwise work on your length.
Sourcing and Cost
Extension cost varies by brand, length, and weight. We share our preferred suppliers during the trial and can advise on what fits your hair type and budget. If you already own extensions, bring them to the trial and we'll test how they blend with your natural color.

How far in advance should I book a wedding hairstylist in Washington, DC?
Most Veux Beauty brides book 8 to 12 months before the wedding, especially for Saturday dates in spring and fall. May, June, September, and October fill earliest. If your date is within 6 months, reach out anyway and we'll check the calendar. We hold confirmed dates with a signed agreement and won't take a second wedding on a date you've reserved with Veux Beauty.
Can I book hair only without makeup?
Yes. Veux Beauty offers hair-only bookings for brides who already have a makeup artist or who want hair done without makeup. If you want both services, booking them together with our team saves you from coordinating two separate vendors and lets us run one combined timeline on the wedding morning. Either path works. Just tell us which you want when you inquire.
What if my hair texture is rarely shown in bridal portfolios?
Tell us your hair type when you inquire. Veux Beauty assigns stylists based on texture experience, not on whoever is available. If you have 4c hair, locs, fine fragile hair, or hair that's been recently chemically treated, we'll match you with the stylist on our team whose work covers that texture. We won't take a booking we can't execute well, and we'll be direct if your hair is outside what we can deliver.
Will my wedding hair last through humidity and an outdoor ceremony?
Yes, if it's built for it. Outdoor DC weddings in July and August are humid, and the hair plan has to account for that from the start. Veux Beauty uses humidity-resistant prep products, sealing finishing sprays, and structural pinning designed to hold through heat, movement, and dancing. We also build touch-up notes for the bride to refresh the look between ceremony and reception if needed.
Do you provide hair extensions or do I bring my own?
Either works. Veux Beauty can source extensions from our preferred suppliers in the color, length, and weight that match your hair, or we can work with extensions you've already purchased. The trial is when we test the blend. If your existing extensions don't match well, we'll tell you at the trial so there's time to source alternatives before the wedding day.
